Housing in the Center of Oxford with British Students

Students will be provided with double room housing in the same flat or house with British (or other non-American) students, barring last-minute withdrawls.

In Trinity Term 2006, 50% of Visiting Students recommended by OSAP lived in the very centre of Oxford (defined as St. Anne's on the North, Magdalen on the East, the rail station on the west, the rail station on the West, and Folly Bridge on the South) and 50% lived within a five minute walk of the very centre.

There are several overseas study programs in Oxford conducted by US colleges, and almost all of their students live with other Americans only, with most housing located outside the central area. The OSAP program, we believe, has arranged the best housing for non-graduating students in Oxford.

Visiting Students at New College, if they wish, will be able to live in a refurbished 16th-century house (10 St Michael's) within a seven-minute walk of their college. A few scarce rooms in the very centre are doubles. College rooms are sometimes available. There are surcharges for these more costly rooms.

Most of our housing is in Jericho, a student-friendly neighborhood next to the very center.

All housing units include a computer (with wireless internet access) and a colour television and video so that students may learn more about Britain, and we have a large library of 1000 free educational and entertaining videos in our office. Telephones are installed, ready for use, the day the students arrive. The cost of telephone calls will be deducted from security deposits. We are able to provide students (after discussions on the phone) with their exact address and phone number in Oxford at least three weeks prior to their arrival.

We also believe that we are the only overseas program in Britain that offers prospective students detailed descriptions and photographs of the housing options so that they may choose their housing. We have to ask a surcharge for our more expensive housing in the very centre of Oxford., but any student who wishes standard housing may choose it at no extra cost. We believe that this offers each student greater flexibility.
